About Us

Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) is the largest Jewish U.S.-based grassroots organization dedicated to promoting full equality, democracy, and self-determination for both Israelis and Palestinians, with more than 60 chapters and over 200,000 members and supporters across the country. We are among the many American Jews who say to the U.S. and Israeli governments: "Not in our names!"

JVP opposes all forms of oppression, particularly anti-Jewish, anti-Muslim, and anti-Arab bigotry and oppression.

JVP – DC Metro welcomes Jews and non-Jews who want to change U.S. policy towards Israel, who oppose the occupation of Palestine, and who support JVP’s values and policies. We work in the DC Metropolitan area to lead and support winnable campaigns to change U.S. policy, shift U.S. discourse, and even the playing field in order to create the political conditions that promote:

  • An end to the Israeli occupation of the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza.
  • Justice, equality, security, and self-determination for Palestinians and Israelis
  • The right of return for Palestinians as supported by international law
  • An end to all violence against civilians

What We Do

JVP – DC Metro is very active in the global non-violent Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, and currently supports several coalition-based BDS campaigns in the area. We are also actively engaged in legislative outreach, both on Capitol Hill and at the state and local levels, as well as in interfaith outreach and community education. We work in broad coalition with other Jewish, Arab-American, African-American, progressive, faith-based, peace and social justice organizations in the DC Metro area.
